Swedish band, Miike Snow, has more than proved themselves on iClub: Indie with singles like “Animal” and their newest single, “Paddling Out”, off of their 2nd album Happy To You (out late March of this year). Lana Del Rey – Blue Jeans Download
Signing to Interscope Records only a few months prior in late 2011, Lana Del Rey has already performed on SNL and has captured the attention of many. If you haven’t heard of her yet, chances are the 60′s inspired looking singer will be entering your airwaves pretty soon. With a genre which she describes as “Hollywood Pop/ Sad Core”, Lana Del Rey is most definitely an artist that will be rising fast, with a plethora of singles to surely be hitting the charts. Lana Del Rey has been tearing up the Blogosphere recently with her epically retro-smooth vocals. The first time we came across her music was via The Hype Machine somewhere around 3 months ago and it would appear that Del Ray is positioning herself to be one of the biggest breakout artists of 2012. “Off to the Races” is one of her latest releases and should start slaying some serious airtime soon. While Lana Del Ray is still kind-of undiscovered right now, we don’t expect that to last very long. Expect to see a lot more of her very soon. Coachella Sold Out Weekend 1
- Pretty incredible, this years DOUBLE weekend of Coachella sold out its first weekend in under 15 minutes. Weekend 2 is currently still active, but is expected to also sell out. This comes a year after the 2011 fiasco where Coachella sold out, thought to be contributed to scalpers purchasing massive quantities of tickets. In response to the 2011 issues, Golden Voice (the management behind the Coachella event) created a second weekend for Coachella to ensure that scalpers wouldn’t be able to purchase enough tickets to sell the event out. With a little math we calculated out the ticket sales rate, which had to average 4,000 ticket sales per minute (also bringing in nearly $1.5 million dollars per minute in sales) to sell out that quickly. We would think it is unlikely that Coachella’s amazingly quick sell out this year could be attributed to scalpers, it appears the event has just gathered an insane following. If you’re looking for a ticket, it looks like your unfortunate best-bet is to start searching local craiglistings and stubhub.

This is our subjective list of the best producers of Electronic Dance Music in the year 2011, taking into account a number of factors including: # of quality tracks released (in our opinion), track listen counts on YouTube and SoundCloud, and Fan Base size. We feel other lists such as DJ Mag’s top 100 fall short of the current real standings of the top EDM producers because of large & loyal fan bases established over multiple years by some of the artists at the top, which clouds the up-and-coming producers that have had larger impacts on this year. It’s not about the size of the name, but the quality of the tracks released in 2011. As one of the top EDM podcasts on the internet, we hope that our opinions on the producers of the Best House Music of 2011 is both well educated, and utilitarian-ly correct.
