- Pretty incredible, this years DOUBLE weekend of Coachella sold out its first weekend in under 15 minutes. Weekend 2 is currently still active, but is expected to also sell out. This comes a year after the 2011 fiasco where Coachella sold out, thought to be contributed to scalpers purchasing massive quantities of tickets. In response to the 2011 issues, Golden Voice (the management behind the Coachella event) created a second weekend for Coachella to ensure that scalpers wouldn't be able to purchase enough tickets to sell the event out. With a little math we calculated out the ticket sales rate, which had to average 4,000 ticket sales per minute (also bringing in nearly $1.5 million dollars per minute in sales) to sell out that quickly. We would think it is unlikely that Coachella's amazingly quick sell out this year could be attributed to scalpers, it appears the event has just gathered an insane following. If you're looking for a ticket, it looks like your unfortunate best-bet is to start searching local craiglistings and stubhub.
