DJ Skinnie is making a name for himself in the San Diego and Los Angeles areas. Originally from Los Angeles but now a San Diego resident, DJ Skinnie or Ryan Neville, plays shows at large clubs throughout Southern California with artist like: Far East Movement, Chris Young, David Rush, DJ Z-Trip, Hyper Crush, Dirty South, DJ Eric Cubeechee, DJ Skeet Skeet, DJ Dainjazone, Shwayze and LMFAO. Ever since he was a child Ryan Neville had a passion for music but starting at 15 years old he started DJing after hanging out in a DJ shop owned by his girlfiend’s dad. Always being “intrigued in what DJ’s on the radio were doing”, it was a natural progression for him to find his art form. DJ Skinnie finds his greatest influence in LMFAO, DJ Felli Fel, DJ Dainjazone, Rock-IT! Scientists and DJ Qbert. He is constantly enhancing his shows and currently is developing his own edits and remixes. After exploring these artists and developing his craft, DJ Skinnie played his most memorable show at the Rialto Theatre in Arizona to a sold out crowd. DJ Skinnie’s ability to mix seamlessly from one track to the next is truly an art. Too many DJ’s make the mistake of switching too hurriedly from track to the next in a way that takes away from the groove that’s been established but this is not the case with DJ Skinnie. The transitions mesh from one song to the other and can only be described as flawless. As he moves from one song to the next Skinnie takes the crowd through the set without letting the momentum stop, unless he wants it to. As an open format DJ he feeds off of the crowd’s energy, switching from classic songs by Bob Marley to hip-hop and electronic music, continuously building the mood. DJ Skinnie’s ability to blend effortlessly from one style to another is one of the strengths of his set. Part of his skills comes from his own mash ups, which transform the standard songs to something richer than the original.
